Have you ever felt like your devices have become your third (and fourth!) appendages and that you are addicted to them? Well, let me tell you about the week I learned just how much I’ve come to rely on them for running my business and staying sane.
It all started with a little date night at the movies. Somewhere between the popcorn and the credits, I managed to lose my cell phone. Cue the panic. After a restless night imagining how to manage my business without my trusty sidekick, I was relieved to pick it up the next day. Crisis averted, right? Not so fast.
Next up: my laptop decided to throw a tantrum. Imagine me, mid-Zoom meeting, trying to absorb video lessons while my sound faded like an indecisive DJ.
After an entire day with the Geek Squad (online and over the phone), no one could figure out the problem. Finally, I had to bite the bullet and take it into the store. The diagnosis? It’s likely a hardware issue. And the treatment? A two-week stint away from home. TWO WEEKS without my laptop?! That’s practically a lifetime when it’s your lifeline for work.
In other words, what’s a self-taught tech lover to do? Dust off the ol’ desktop, of course. The past two days have been a crash course in downloading apps, updating software, and getting this ancient beast up to speed. Let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. But you know what? I’m learning (again!) how to adapt, pivot, and keep moving forward—even when the devices I rely on throw me a curveball.
I’m turning 73 soon, and let me say that this whole technology thing has been a steep learning curve. But if there’s one thing I’ve embraced, AGE-GILITY is all about rolling with the punches, staying curious, and figuring out the next step. After all, who would have thought I’d ever call myself addicted to gadgets and gizmos?
Who’s with me on this journey? Have your devices ever brought you to your knees—and taught you something in the process? Share your stories below, and stay tuned for my upcoming book, “The Complete Guide to Women’s Retirement.” It’s all about finding purpose, navigating change, and embracing life’s twists and turns—tech hiccups included!
In conclusion, let’s keep moving forward, one step (or app update!) at a time. 🌟
