As we step into September, we find ourselves in a beautiful season of transition.
The days grow shorter, the air crisper and a subtle shift in energy invites us to pause, reflect, and reset.
With its busy rhythms and long, sun-filled days, summer begins to slow down, offering a perfect moment to refresh and prepare for the months ahead.
For me, after the hustle of summer, catching up with visiting with out-of-town friends and family, and enjoying warm mornings and balmy nights on our deck, it is time for a reset.
Now, it’s an opportunity to realign my focus and set the stage for what promises to be an even busier and more fulfilling fall.
This weekend alone, I attended a three-day Zoom Accelerate with my Momentum Coaching Accountability community and volunteered at my local Cancer Foundation’s 25th Emerald Ball fundraiser.
Whether revisiting the goals of my coaching programs, refreshing my workout routines, or embracing new challenges to complete a manuscript for my latest book on aging with vibrancy, September brings new awareness and renewed energy to step forward.
Now is the time to breathe deeply and recalibrate. Are you ready for a bit of breathing exercise? Be present and set your intention for the day.
Let’s take a deep breath together now:
- First, be aware that your core—the mind/body connection—is the foundation of all “breath work” and movement.
- 1. Start by pulling your navel toward your spine and take a deep breath. The breath will activate your diaphragm and abs.
- 2. Do a slight pelvic tilt, holding everything in. Voila, your “Powerhouse,” is now engaged.
- 3. Now…..Bring your arms down to your side
- 4. To REFRESH, place your palms down to the ground to ground yourself of your day so far.
- 5. Or place your palms up, open to the sky, and RESET for what you want to accomplish for the day. You choose what you need at this moment.
- 6. Now, take a slow, deep breath through your nose.
- 7. Expand your lower ribcage, letting your belly move forward.
- 8. Hold for 3-5 seconds
- 9. Breathe out slowly through your mouth!
- Do this two more times to calm your central nervous system.
In this season of change, take a moment to reflect on what you’ve accomplished and what lies ahead.

September is more than just a change in season—it’s an opportunity to refresh our spirits and prepare for the busy, meaningful days to come.
