Happy International Women’s Day! Today is the global day to celebrate women’s
social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. Imagine a gender-equal world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A diverse, equitable, & inclusive world where differences are valued and celebrated!
The seed for Women’s Day roots began to grow in 1908 in NYC when 15,000 women representing the socialist party marched, demanding better working hours, pay, and the right to vote! A year later, this group declared the First National Women’s Day. In 1910, the 2nd International Working Women’s Conference was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. A woman named Clara Zetkin suggested a special day of recognition. Well, that idea was tabled.
In 1945 the United Nations became the 1st international agreement to affirm the equality of men & women. But it wasn’t until March 8, 1975, when the UN officially recognized Women’s Day when Jimmy Carter proclaimed the week of March 8 would be National Women’s History Week. However, it wasn’t until 1987 that it was turned into the National Month by Congress as we know it now.
We Have COME A LONG WAY, BABY!
This year (2022), the UN announced its theme is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.” So together, we can #BreakTheBias!
I want to ask you if you feel there is AGE BIAS/ Discrimination and gender?
Tomorrow is my 70th Birthday!!! For ME ……….. “Age is JUST a number, A Sum of
one’s LIFE EXPERIENCE! And I have had a few!! I have lived through all these contemporary changes in Women’s National/International Day, Week, Month.
My Mom was a working woman, and I learned my work ethic, her gender equality from her, and the craving for lifelong learning. However, she didn’t have the opportunity to graduate from HS. WW II was going on. Being the eldest in her family, everyone went to work for the war effort. Times were indeed different then.
My generation was the 1st generation in our family to receive a college education.
Therefore, Mom worked hard so that we could have a college education and a better life.
My parents have long since passed. I know they would be proud of me, what I have
accomplished, and how I continue growing and pursuing my passion for serving others. There is a saying. “Time is non-refundable. Use it with Intention.” You can’t save it, and you can’t make more, so be sure you spend your least renewable resource wisely.
HOW you choose to use that time determines your successes and happiness in life. Life has a way of whizzing by. One day you are in your 30’s, and before you realize it turning 70!!! So, in honor of going on my seventh trip on this planet, I would love to gift you a FREE webinar for my BIRTHDAY. It will also give you a peek into what I’m doing to keep my creative juices flowing & growing!!!
We need to have a “talk” ……the “SUGAR TALK!”
After the Holidays, Valentine’s Day & my BIRTHDAY, I need “THE TALK” to get back on track!!! I know we all LOVE Sugar. Sugar tastes GREAT!. It is our “feel good” hormone DOPAMINE surging. And also increases the risk of heart disease factors such as obesity, high blood pressure, and inflammation! It also can ACCELERATE the Cellular Ageing PROCESS! BOO HOO. And it does matter if it comes from bees or sugar cane. It’s all addictive!
I’m getting my email list together and will be sending out an invite probably on
Eventbrite for next Tuesday evening. SAVE THE DATE! Tuesday, March 15. 7 pm EST! Give me a thumbs up below, or DM me your email address if you want in!
This is MY TUTH………. practicing agility as we age. I call it “AGE-GILITY.”
Until next week……Trust your Truth!
