Tuesday Truths 5/31/22
I just read an article on Mindful.org of “How Inner Resilience Helps You Choose Your Response.”
All of us face pressures and worries in our daily life. Some we can do something about, like, flying off the handle, being stuck in traffic, or a broken friendship because of miscommunication. Other things, not so much. The violence in our communities, illness or death of a loved one, or part of the world constantly at war. This is all part of LIFE.
I watched military movies on the Turner Classic Movie channel on Memorial Day Weekend. My husband is a WWII fanatic, and I love any history and old movies.
I wondered how the Allied Forces would change sides in every different war. Is it all about the Power and Politics of countries? And how the ordinary people are all caught in the middle of the crossfire.
Being RESILENANT is not the whole answer to the [problems we have in our lives, but with MINDFUL RESILIENCE, we will have a more extraordinary ability to respond with calm wisdom.
Three Ways to Meet Your Daily Challenges with Resilience: by Carolyn Gimian
- Embrace the Overwhelm – Instead of pushing away BIG emotions like exhaustion, fear, or anger, give yourself SPACE. Take a moment to feel what this is telling you. “You have to challenge yourself to do things unfamiliar and uncomfortable with the approach of waking up, calming down, and extending yourself.” TRANSFORMING FEAR.
- Be Your Superhero – What we tell ourselves sincerely impacts our well-being; by finding our strengths, we will have the capacity to better stand up for what we need to empower us to tap into our inner power!
- Lastly, Keep a Toolbox Handy – Practice the habits of RESILIENCE……mindful meditation, journaling/writing, self-compassion, and
forgiveness. Learning healthy ways to move through adversity and problems when
life throws you a curveball that can help you lean into it, cope, and recover quickly.
So, this is the prime time to reach out to a coach or therapist to help get you started in the right direction.
