June 30, 2026
This 4th of July feels extra special. America is celebrating her 250th birthday, and while 250 years sounds like a long time, compared with many places around the world, we are still a young nation. https://america250.org/
In many ways, America is still growing, still learning, still stretching, and still becoming.
And maybe that is what makes this birthday so meaningful.
❤️ A Memory from 1976
I remember how excited I was back in 1976, when America celebrated her 200th birthday. I had just bought my first bedroom set for my first real apartment.
At the time, Early American furniture was very much “in,” and the drawers were lined with paper that said:
1876 to 1976
I thought it was the coolest thing ever!
Now? Well… let’s just say Early American furniture does not have quite the same sparkle for me anymore. But the memory still does.
That bedroom set represented independence, possibility, and a new chapter in my own life.
And isn’t that what America’s story has always been about?
🌟 A new chapter.
🌟 A fresh start.
🌟 A belief that tomorrow can be better than today.
🤝 This Birthday Is About People
America’s 250th birthday does not need to be about politics.
It can be about people.
It is about the families who built lives here. The communities that showed up for one another. The teachers, nurses, farmers, business owners, veterans, volunteers, parents, grandparents, dreamers, workers, and neighbors who helped shape this country one ordinary day at a time.
It is about the people who kept going during hard times.
It is about those who served, created, healed, rebuilt, taught, protected, encouraged, and opened doors for others.
That is worth celebrating.
🌱 Still Growing, Still Becoming
Like every person, family, community, and nation, America has not been perfect. Growth never is.
But growth is possible when we are willing to learn, listen, adapt, and move forward.
That is true in our personal lives, and it is true in our shared life as a nation.
Freedom is a gift, but it also comes with responsibility. It asks us to practice gratitude, compassion, courage, and care for one another.
And maybe this 250th birthday is a beautiful reminder that we are not finished yet.
We are still becoming.
🎆 Looking Toward the Next 250 Years
As the flags wave and the fireworks light up the sky, I hope we pause for just a moment and ask ourselves:
What kind of America do we want to help create for the next 250 years?
Maybe it starts simply.
💙 With kindness.
❤️ With listening.
🤍 With serving.
💙 With honoring our memories while still making room for the future.
❤️ With remembering that we do not have to agree on everything to care about one another.
America at 250 is not only a celebration of where we have been.
It is an invitation to become better together. Happy Birthday America!
Bye for now!
