Tuesday Truths – May 23, 2023
There is no Magic Pill, Diet, or Exercise – However, You Can Live with AGE-GILITY!
I am not a health, fitness, or life Guero, but I have lived close to the answer for the past 70+ years.
My life’s journey has not been perfect or easy by any stretch of the imagination.
Compared to most at that time
- I married later in life,
- dealt with infertility,
- went through menopause,
- and was diagnosed with Graves’ Disease.
- Underwent iodine radiation to obliviate my thyroid.
- This caused me to be Hypo-Thyroid for the rest of my life and on medication to replace that important hormone.
Being drawn to healthcare as a preventive oral health professional, I was very aware of the oral-systemic connection.
As a result, I have been proactive in my healthcare and have been a number one promoter of SELF-CARE.
What do I mean about Self-care?
You are putting yourself first in health, starting when you are young and continuing through each decade. (STORY)
As I dive deeper into the KEYS to LONGEVITY………..
it is NEVER too late to start training for the “CENTARIAN DECATHLON!” (STORY)

With this approach, I am checking all the boxes in my AGE-GILITY Programs in Mind, Body, and Spirit with the latest science to deliver:

- techniques for optimizing exercise and sleep,
- and the “tools” to address emotional and mental health through connection.
Too often, medical interventions for chronic diseases of aging that most people die of:
- heart disease,
- cancer,
- Alzheimer’s and
- type 2 diabetes
are too late to help prolong longevity and improve the quality of life.
This is NOT “biohacking” that you see in Facebook and Instagram ads.
This is SCIENCE:
- A well-founded strategic and tactical approach
- to extend our quality of life and lifespan.
While improving:
- physical,
- cognitive, and
- emotional health.
And as much as I try to avoid the word exercise, “EXERCISE,” it is the MOST POTENT pro-longevity drug!
I always tried to practice Everything in Moderation.
- eating,
- drinking, and
- mixing up various exercises
This has been the correct road map for me!
It has allowed me to outlive my genetics (which are 20% of who we are) to make each decade of life better than the one before.
YOUR FATE is NOT SET in STONE. You have the “Free Will” to make things happen with every decision YOU make!
If you have been leading a sedentary life or if walking is your only form of movement and want to start a healthy exercise program gently, to:
- increasing flexibility,
- balance,
- muscle strength,
- and weight control…..

Regarding nutrition…..
You may or may not want to do the deep dive into research as I am but start by forgetting about “DIETS.”
- Instead, Focus on nutritional biochemistry,
- Use technology and data to personalize your eating habits.
- Do not eliminate any major macronutrient-rich food group for life’s energy.
- Eliminate PROCESS foods.
- Avoid sugary drinks (including “diet” sodas)
- and highly refined carbs (cakes, cookies, candy, all the stuff we get addicted to)
