When it comes to weight loss, food concerns, body image, or even eating disorders, there is NO ONE “thing,” magic pill, or straightforward one-step approach. That is why weight loss has become a cultural obsession and has grown into a billion-dollar industry.
As you know, I take an evidence-based scientific approach to anything I discuss, including weight loss and body confidence. Simply put…. calories in and calories out are the first two KEYS.
#1 NUTRITION: Feeding our bodies the nutrients we need to exist healthy and thrive. No one diet fits all.
#2 EXERCISE: Movement for the expenditure of excess calories. The need to keep our bones and muscles strong for strength and balance is even more critical as we age.
Here is the Third Key:
#3 EMOTION: Your emotions control your beliefs and actions. Fear, anger, resentment, and guilt can hijack your best intentions and affect you on a deep biological level that has nothing to do with willpower or our genes.
Negative emotions and stress can disrupt all the body’s systems.
When we go into fight or flight mode, our body goes into self-defense, and digestion function either slows or shuts down.
Then……… you do not have the ability to digest your food which has a negative impact on metabolism……. and the prevention of absorbing nutrients……triggering hunger even if you aren’t hungry. Hence, overeating.
I have an incredibly powerful tool to clear stress and limiting beliefs to get in touch with you and what your body needs. It is something I practice and teach, and it is called TAPPING.
First off, Tapping isn’t new. Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT), and Emotional Brain Training (EBT), has been studied and practiced for years and is easy healing psychological acupressure tool.
The technique combines ancient Chinese acupressure and modern psychology. It involves tapping on different parts of your body, specific meridian points through which energy flows, with your fingers, mostly with your dominant hand.

Here are “5” Basic Steps:
- Identify the Issue: Choose one issue to focus on at a time.
- Test the Initial Intensity: Benchmark the level of the issue on a scale of 0-10.
- The Setup: Reminder phrase of acknowledgment of the problem (self-acceptance).
- The Sequence: Taps on specific points repeating the phase.
- Test the Intensity: Check-in. Rank the level of the issues on a scale of 0-10. Repeat until 0.
Sounds pretty cool, right?
Once you know Tapping, you will always have a tool to support you through times of stress, including weight loss.
