Happy Valentine’s Day! February is also Heart Health Month!
Yesterday we celebrated Galentine’s Day. This is a special day to remember the key women in our life, whether they are family or friends. This is a fun way to celebrate all the inspirational women in our life!
The “term” Galentine’s Day originated from a 2010 episode of the sitcom Parks & Recreation when Amy Poehler explained that all her lady friends left their husbands & boyfriends home and had a girl’s night out of celebration.
Because…… while romantic partners come and go, everyone knows friendships last forever!
Today …. We celebrate Valentine’s Day. A Day of Love, Romance, and Friendship!
Last year, I spoke of the history of how and why we celebrate this particular day with cards, hearts, flowers, and candy. You can revisit my history lesson on my website blog at www.michelerase.com.
Love and Romance are sometimes interchangeable because they are closely related in a particular context. However, they are different.
Love is explained as an intense feeling of the emotion of deep affection, attachment, and devotion.
It is best experienced rather than explained.
Feeling Love…. attracts more Love. Love is a verb when focusing on action. What we are is what we attract.
“The greatest thing you will ever learn is just to love and be loved in return” ~ Moulin Rouge
According to Greek philosophy, there are 7 Types of Love:
- Eros – Romantic, Passionate Love (of the body, lust))
- Philia – Affection, Friendly, friends, love…. Developed over a deep, long-lasting friendship.
- Storge – Unconditional Familial Love…. Parent/Child
- Agape – Selfless, Universal Love…. Love of Mankind Deepest or Highest form for all living things. Unconditional Love
- Ludus – Playful, Flirtatious Love…. Crushing on each other
- Pragma – Committed, Long Lasting Love… That old couple who is still together is seen holding hands.
- Philautia – Self Love. Necessary for our confidence and self-esteem and How we interact with the world. More self-love equals more Love you have to offer.
Which type of Love are you experiencing in your life at present?
In contrast, Romance is referred to as actions or gestures in the context of a relationship. These gestures are an outward expression of one person’s feelings toward another. For example, thrill and excitement!
It is also seen as a tool…… to prolong or reinforce a couple’s bond and reinforce connection. In this situation, Romance improves the potential for a couple to be in LOVE.
Romance is part of Love. Love can continue without Romance…… but Romance won’t last long without Love.
A good relationship is a healthy place when maintained where Love & Romance can coexist, being consistent and present.
Here are the top things I have discovered.
- A happy marriage/life partnership is one of the most significant foundations for happiness, health, wealth, well-being, and satisfaction in life.
- Choosing the right partner is one of the essential foundations for success in Love. Find someone who shares your values and vision for life and with whom you feel you can ultimately be yourself.
- You need nothing to do or accomplish to be worthy of being loved. You are enough.
- Soulmates can have different ways of orienting and seeing the world… and differences can be an excellent opportunity to learn and expand oneself.
- A great marriage or life partnership is a hugely worthwhile goal in life …… and supports every other area to thrive. You can be devoted and still have the freedom to grow.
“Everything in life is better—and sweeter when shared.”
If you’re with the one you Love already …… that’s AWESOME; if not, get yourself a dog (or cat)!
I will be away next week and will hop on if I can.
So, until next time, Trust Your Truths, Live Your Best Life, and I hope you have a magical Valentine’s Day.
Bye for now!
