Sometimes life’s timing makes me smile, when your life and your writing collide.
For the past several weeks, I have been deeply immersed in completing and editing my newest book, Start Where You Are: Gentle Intermittent Fasting and Sugar Detox for Seniors Seeking Energy, Vitality, and Healthy Longevity.
At the same time, I completed another round of Prolon’s 5-Day Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD).https://prolonlife.com
⏳ Coincidence? Maybe.
😄 A little ironic? Definitely.
I have done at least five rounds over the past few years, typically spacing them about four months apart.
The program uses carefully formulated, plant-based foods that mimic parts of a prolonged fast while still letting you eat and get nourishment.
So, there I was, editing chapters on fasting, sugar, metabolism, inflammation, energy, and healthy longevity, as I ate my soups, bars, and olives and drank my teas while editing a book about fasting.
Needless, I couldn’t help but laugh. The timing was almost too perfect.
What struck me most was how naturally the experience aligned with my new book’s message.
🥣 You can’t make this stuff up.
🌿 Healthy Longevity Is More Than Living Longer
As we age, healthy longevity does not have to mean extreme diets, punishing exercise regimens, or trying to turn back into our 30-year-old selves.
Thank goodness. I don’t have the energy for that! 😄
It is about becoming more aware of how we nourish our bodies, how often we eat, how much added sugar and highly processed foods have crept into our diets, and how small changes can support better health.
It is also about healthspan—not just lifespan.
💚 I don’t just want more years.
I want more years with:
✨ Energy
💪 Strength
🚶♀️ Independence and movement
🧠 Curiosity and mental vitality
❤️ Purpose and connection &
🌟 The ability to enjoy the people and experiences that make life meaningful
📖 Start Where You Are
But it also reminded me of something important about AGE-GILITY and healthy longevity: we are never finished learning about our bodies.
Healthy aging is not about chasing youth. It is about finding realistic ways to support our energy, vitality, strength, and healthspan in the body we have today.
And that is exactly what Start Where You Are means.
Start with what works for you, make thoughtful changes, pay attention to your body, and keep moving forward.
For me, this latest FMD arrived while I was writing about many of the same principles.
Perhaps life was simply reminding me to practice what I write.
And that sounds a lot like AGE-GILITY to me.
🌱 Progress, not perfection.
📍 Start where you are.
💫 Keep moving toward greater energy, vitality, and healthy longevity.
Until next week…That’s my Tuesday Truth for today,
Bye for now!
