January 9, 2024
Ever since childhood, I always had a cold or the flu on Christmas or the week of New Year. My family seemed to contribute to being overexcited with all the holiday activities. KIDS……!
Ironically, I have never seemed to outgrow this! I still get into all the excitement of holiday preparations and end up sick in bed at some point.
Nevertheless, I have finally concluded that a HUGE cause of being run down, besides living with an autoimmune disease, was my SELF-CARE!
Well, no one is perfect, but I do strive for progression.
My sleep was satisfactory; I continued my exercise routine as best I could when I was up to it. I embraced the cold, dreary winter weather, got out into nature, stayed hydrated, and continued my family and community FUN.
However, “Man cannot live by appetizers, Christmas cookies, and cocktails alone!” If only we could! LOL!
You got it………my healthy eating habits went out the window like the melting falling snow!
Last week, I spoke about the New Year and setting GOOD INTENTIONS.
Now that I’m feeling a bit better, and it is January 9, it’s time to put my “mouth, invest my time where the money is!”
First, out of the gate is a Sugar Detox!
The most important reason for Sugar Detox is that SUGAR is an addictive substance. A detox from sweets can potentially help rewire your brain and break the addiction.https://health.clevlandcllinic.org/how-to-stop-sugar-cravings
Benefits of a Sugar Detox:
- Cut out “wasted” calories your body cannot use and lose extra weight.
- Decrease sugar cravings. (It can take from 3 days to over a month.)
- Decrease the risk of developing chronic diseases, for example, diabetes and heart disease.
- Improve oral health by reducing cavities, tooth discoloration, and bad breath.
- Improve overall health.
